Turf and Environmental Athletic Management

In turf management, a proper integrated pest management (IPM) system incorporates a variety of control methods for managing pests.

Proper Soil Management - Many turf problems can be traced to soils that are excessively wet, dry, acidic, or alkaline, and to soils that are infertile, prone to compaction, impenetrable, or full of debris. Fertile soils with a pH of between 6 and 7 are desirable. Soil testing can identify problem areas which can be corrected over time with proper cultural maintenance practices, soil amendments and biological amendments.

Cultural Maintenance Practices - Proper nutrients (fertilization) combined with mowing, watering, aeration, vertical mowing and topdressing can be combined to reduce weed, insect, and disease problems and to produce turf of high quality. Read more about these cultural maintenance practices:

Biological amendments - The use of organic biological amendments can enhance a fertilizer program by increasing the plant's nutrient uptake. It can also improve water filtration in soils and stimulate root mass growth. Our Synergistic Biology, including natural-based fertilizers and organics, help the turf plants maintain more balanced growth and remarkable stress tolerance under difficult conditions such as high temperatures, extreme drought, high salinity, low mowing heights, high traffic, herbicide applications, and disease pressures. Find out more about our biology HERE.

Pest Management - Contrary to some beliefs, pesticides are often used as part of a well-rounded integrated pest management system. They are selected and applied responsibly to avoid health risks to living organisms other than those targeted. Generally, Sport Turf Supply uses pesticides that have low toxicity, are effective against the pest that is present (but not damaging to other living organisms), and have the least persistence. Using the most effective application methods and timing can also help to reduce costs and provide optimal control.

Custom Management Programs - Sport Turf Supply will customize a turf maintenance program based on your facility, soil test result and budget. Let us help you produce and maintain the healthiest, safest and beautiful sport turf playing surfaces. Contact or call us today at (334) 702-4101 and ask for "Dirt".
